Top 10 Bass Lures

What are the top ten bass lures?

The top ten artificial lures for catching bass are as follows: 1) The spinnerbait is hands down the most versatile and widely used lure for catching bass. It can be used at various depths and is somewhat weedless. 2) Plastic worms account for a significant portion of the bass caught via rod and reel. Fished slow and near the bottom they are a very productive lure. 3) Topwater lures like the Hula Popper and Zara Spook are widely used in calm water and generally more productive very early in the morning or late in the evening. 4) Crankbaits cannot be beat when used in deep water and allowed to hit the bottom structure. There are a wide variety of crankbaits, some float at rest while others sink. The key is choosing a crankbait with the correct running depth. 5) Jigs are a standby lure that will catch just about any species of fish, including bass. I like to add a rubber skirt or twister tail to the back of a jig to give it more motion and perhaps a color contrast. 6) Inline spinners, like those made by Mepps are excellent fish producers. 7) Spoons can be used to catch large bass. They should only be used when bass are actively feeding as they are best retrieved fast. 8) Plastic frogs flipped through pads and weeds are great lures. 9) A large jig and pig combo fished in deep cover can produce some of the largest bass you will catch. 10) Buzzbaits are fished much like spinnerbaits but provide a sound attractant to the mix.
