What is the best best trolling speed for stripers?

If you are considering going bass fishing and aim to catch a few striped bass then you might be interested to know that trolling is one of the best ways to do it! Trolling in a regular bass fishing boat with baits and lures at varying depths can be incredibly useful for upping your catch rate. However, before you do find that your catch rate has improved, you will need to identify the correct speed to troll at and the first thing to look at is the nature of the striped bass. The striped bass is very lively and loves the thrill of the chase. It is also not habitual, meaning that you will find that there is no pattern to its behaviour. As such, you have to make sure that there is no pattern to yours and trolling gives you this option but you do need flexibility. The flexibility comes with the speed. The ideal speeds at which you should troll for stripers is between 1 and 2 knots but be sure to alter it as and when you need to. For example, if the action is fast then you could increase it to 3 knots but it is not ideal unless you are matching the action. 2 knots is probably the optimum speed but a little below that will work better in calmer waters. Always tailor your speed to the nature of the bass action and you will not go far wrong. In fact, you will find that your catch rate picks up.
