Techniques for Bass Fishing in Winter

*         Dress correctly- The first thing that you need to do is have the right clothing. Technology has made it possible for designers to create many lightweight clothing that can keep you warm even in extreme cold. Invest in some good quality winter clothing that will allow you to move freely while staying warm and comfortable.

*         Wear the Right Footwear- When fishing in the winter it’s important to keep your feet dry. One of the best ways to do this is by wearing waterproof boots. This way you can load and unload your boat without getting your feet soaked. Even if you’re fishing from the shore you may find the need to wade into the water from time to time so boots will come in handy.

*         Wear a Lifejacket- Anytime you go out on the water in the winter you need to wear a lifejacket even if you are an excellent swimmer. The water is so much colder that it will literally take your breath away if you accidently fell in. It would be difficult to swim but the lifejacket will keep you afloat.

*         Take Along A Friend- It’s always recommended that you take along a friend when fishing in the winter. This way, if something did happen there would be someone else to help.

Safety is always priority anytime you go fishing but special care should be taken in the winter. The water is even more dangerous when the weather is cold. However, if you follow all safety rules and use the tips above you should have a safe and enjoyable bass fishing trip. It’s also advised that you let someone onshore know where you’re going fishing and when you plan to come back in the event an accident does occur. This will make it easier find your location and help can be sent to you much faster.

It’s much quieter in the winter and there’s less competition so fishing can be even more relaxing than at other times of the year. It’s something that all fishermen should try at least once.
