Online Sources for Bass Fishing Equipment

Bass Pro Shops opened its first retail store in Springfield in 1984, and today operates more than 55 retail stores across the U.S. and Canada. It is said that their stores are so big, you need to hire a guide to find your way. Like Cabelas, they are as much an Education Center as a store. Bass Pro Shops went online in the late 1990s, and today does several billions of dollars in business, offering top quality equipment, clothing, services and education to the public. They, like Cabelas, continue to be a major contributor and moving force to outdoor conservation and preservation issues.

Of course, no discussion of online business could be complete without mentioning the ultimate web-giant…EBAY! EBay began in the living room of Pierre Omidyar, in San Jose, Ca. That was in 1995. It began as a simple person-to-person online auction, but soon grew into a monster! Pierre wisely hired former business experts from Pepsico, Hasbro and other Fortune 500 companies, and they have turned EBay into the world’s largest marketplace! With the exception of firearms and explosives, absolutely ANYTHING that is legal to be purchased is available from EBay on their auctions, or online stores. Everything from antique thimbles to jet aircraft is sold. There was once even an auction for the ghost of someone’s family member! Both new and used sporting goods can be easily purchased on EBay.

There are several other smaller online sporting goods retailers, such as
Sportsman’s Warehouse, Cheaper Than Dirt, Dicks Sporting Goods, Gander Mountain, and others. In addition, most major retailers have online outlets available, such as Wal-Mart, Sears, J.C. Penny, Montgomery Wards, Target, etc…..

There are several websites that offer products for sale, as well as information, such as:  http://www.bassinusa.com/busa/buy_n_sell/index.asp, http://www.barlowstackle.com/, http://www.bassfishingusa.com/, http://www.bassdozer.com/, and many others.

Happy Fishing!
