Bass Fishing Basics – Bait, Gear, Technique

Live baits are effective but they’re not always practical. Some people just don’t like to fool with all the hassles that are associated with using live baits. Fortunately, there are a number of different artificial baits that can be used as well. Some of the best choices include spoons, crankbaits, topwater lures, tail spinners, tube lures, spinnerbaits and jigs.

It’s always a good idea to carry along a variety of lures with you each time you go fishing. This way you can always switch off and try something different if one thing is not working. Considering that you’ll never really know what mood the bass will be in until you get out on the water, you need variety.

Basic Bass Fishing Tips
After you have all of the basic gear and you’re ready to go fishing you’ll need a few simple fishing tips to help you get off to a good start. Regardless of which species of bass you’re seeking out, these tips can be very useful.

*         Take the time to learn about the seasonal patterns the bass follow. Knowing these patterns will help you locate them faster so you can start fishing sooner.
*         Try different retrieval speeds until you find the one that gets the most attention of the bass. Sometimes a slow retrieval will be needed and other times you may need to speed things up. It may take some practice before you find the right speed.
*         Take the time to learn how the weather patterns affect the way the bass react to the bait that you’re providing. They will respond differently on sunny days than they will on cloudy days and the different seasons will make a difference as well.
*         You must have patients if you want to be successful. Some days the bass may be hitting like crazy and the next day they won’t take anything that you offer. You can’t give up when the fish aren’t biting if you truly want to be a success.

Using these tips can help you become a better angler and the more you practice, the better you’ll become. Knowledge is truly the key to success in anything that you do, even bass fishing.
